Instituted April 18, 1927. In silver, an eight point silver star with clusters of nine smooth rays, with a large overlaid blue enamelled eight point star on top with a gilt wreath around the central medallion which bears a red and white enamelled shield, surrounded by a white enamel ring engraved INSTRUCAO PUBLICA, the reverse presents a single vertical pin, with central makers mark of FREDERICO DA COSTA, measures 81. 6mm
